Looking for Live Mussels in Matteson Lake! April 17, 2021 Please keep an eye out for mussels (freshwater clams) living in Matteson Lake this summer. If you find one, take a picture of it (in your hand for scale) and send it to Larry Lemke at L.D.Lemke@cmich.edu so that he can get it identified. Mussels are great filter feeders and knowing whether we have living mussels and, if so, what species they are will help us evaluate the potential for reintroducing them into in Matteson Lake at some point in the future.
